Sapele’s natural oils make it resistant to water, which is beneficial for outdoor applications or humid environments. The high density of Sapele wood makes it strong and durable, suitable for various applications where strength is required.

AD or KD rough sawn or dressed timber and decking, approx 500m3 of RS AD timber / mth. Cants (squared logs) also available on an ongoing basis.

COMMON USES

Sapele is hugely popular with door and window manufacturers due to its hardness and close grained texture making it perfect for intricate joinery. Other common uses include Veneer, plywood, furniture, cabinetry, flooring and decking, boatbuilding and musical instruments.

APPEARANCE

Heartwood is a golden to dark reddish brown. Color tends to darken with age. Besides the common ribbon pattern seen on quartersawn boards, Sapele is also known for a wide variety of other figured grain patterns, such as: pommele, quilted, mottled, wavy, beeswing, and fiddleback.
