OPS Forestry in conjunction with our Liberia forest and mill partner would like to present the opportunity to secure supply of Azobe cants (squared logs) and sawn timber.
Believed to be more environmentally friendly than concrete and can last at least 80 years (compared to 100 years for concrete). The solid azobé wood is extremely dense and has a high content of natural oil. This makes the wood practically impermeable and resistant to fungus and other typical threats to wood.
Azobe / Ekki properties make it a perfect material for heavy construction or other uses where great strength and durability is needed.

COMMON USES
Due to the good mechanical and physical properties, the timber is often used for all kind of bog mats, hydraulic constructions, like bridge constructions, decking’s, sheet pilings, jetties, sound barriers, stables and piles. More recently, Azobé has also been used for parts in the construction sector.
APPEARANCE
The colour of the timber is either dark reddish or violet brown with a pale pinkish white sapwood.
